Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)


It is Summer 1938. Three years after the events of The Ark of the Covenant.
Archaeology professor Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr. (Harrison Ford) and museum curator Dr. Marcus Brody (Denholm Elliott) are invited by Walter Donovan (Julian Glover) to his mansion. Donovan is a generous donator to the museum. He has discovered fragment of an ancient stone marker dating to the 12th century. Indy reads the marker, and to his surprise it details "the cup that holds the blood of Jesus Christ" - the Holy Grail, whose can grant immortality.


Donovan's project team is now searching for the second marker, left behind by a knight who had found the Grail, somewhere in Venice. Unfortunately the project leader and all his research have vanished. To Indy's surprise, the missing project leader is his father Professor Henry Jones, Sr. (Sean Connery). Indy suddenly remembers the brown paper package from Venice – his dad's diary, which contains map and information about the Holy Grail.


Indy and Marcus fly to Venice to meet Dr. Elsa Schneider (Alison Doody), his father assistant. They go to where Henry Sr. disappeared, the Venice library, which was once a church in ancient Roman times. Indy discovers that the library is the tomb of the knight. Indy digs the floor and finds a tunnel. Exploring the tunnel with Elsa, Indy finds an ancient casket and a knight's shield, the second marker. Indy learns that his father is imprisoned in a castle in Germany.


Indy and Elsa fly to the German castle and rescue Henry Sr., but Indy is betrayed by Elsa and Walter Donovan. Indy and his father are imprisoned in the castle but they manage to break out and escape from German soldiers. They go back to Berlin, where Donovan and Elsa take the diary for Hitler. Adolf Hitler and the Nazis plan to use the Holy Grail for global world domination for their super-race. Indy treks to Berlin, finds Elsa, and takes the diary back.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)


It is Summer 1935. One year before the events of "Raiders of the Lost Ark".
It is late night in Hongkong. The legendary Archaeology professor Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr. (Harrison Ford) confronts Lao Che, a Chinese gangster leader, in a nightclub. They are trading an artifact from the Ming dynasty emperor. After the trading fail, the gangsters won't let Indy get out of the nightclub alive. However, Indy escapes from the gunfight along with his two friends, a night club singer Wilhelmina "Willie" Scott and a twelve-year-old boy "Short Round".


They sneak up aboard a freight plane and escape from Hongkong – unaware their plane and the two pilots belong to Lao Che. Over the Himalayas, the pilots dump the fuel, and parachuting out of the plane. Indy discovers the plane start to dive and the engines fail. Indy and friends jump out of the plane and they survive a 300-feet free fall.


After crash landing in India, they meet an old Indian shaman who leads them to an Indian small distressed village where people are starving and dying. The villagers believe that evil spirits have taken all their children away after a sacred precious stone was stolen. Indy figures out that the missing stone is one of the Sankara stones, which are supposed to have a great magical power.


Agreeing to help the villagers, Indy and friends start the mission to Pankot Palace, a gigantic palace on the top of the mountain. The palace belongs to a peaceful young Indian prince who assures that no such action occurred from his palace. The Prime Minister Chatter Lal offers them to spend the night in the palace.


However, that evening Indy finds a secret underground cavern that lead to an ancient temple known as the Temple of Doom. The temple once house of the Thuggee, a terrorist cult that he thought was long extinct. The Thuggee’s psychopathic high priest, Mola Ram used to kill his victims by tearing their hearts out alive as sacrifices to Kali - the Thuggee god of death. The Thuggee has kidnapped the children from the village and enslaved them in the underground mine to dig for the magic stones. The Thuggee believe that with the power of all five Sankara stones they can rise once more and rule the world.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)


It is Spring 1936.
Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr. (Harrison Ford) is a renowned Archeology professor. One day while Dr. Jones is teaching an archeology class in the university, two agents from U.S. Army Intelligence are waiting for him at his office. They tell him that the U.S. Army has intercepted a German cable concerning about Nazi German archaeological activities in Egypt, including a large excavation site near Cairo.

When they read the cable, Dr. Jones and his friend, a museum curator, Dr. Marcus Brody (Denholm Elliott) realize that the Nazi German might have discovered Tanis, an ancient city buried in a sandstorm in 980 B.C. and the possible burial site of The Ark of the Covenant. The Ark was built by ancient Hebrews to hold the stone tablets on which Moses inscribed the Ten Commandments. The Ark is believed to carry an incredibly powerful energy that must not fall into Nazi’s hands.


Indy is immediately sent overseas. But he doesn’t realize that he is followed by a Nazi agent, Major Arnold Toht (Ronald Lacey). Indy flies to Nepal to meet Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), his former professor's daughter. Indy needs the headpiece of The Staff of Ra, which is owned by Marion. The crystal will help him to determine the exact location of the Ark.


After escape from Major Toht and the Nazis, Indy and Marion fly to Egypt to meet Indy's friend, Sallah (John Rhys-Davies), who is working on the Nazi’s excavation site near Cairo. Sallah reveals that the Nazis are helped by Dr. Rene Belloq (Paul Freeman), a French archeologist who is a longtime rival of Indy's. Sallah takes Indy to see a shaman who can reads the Ra headpiece. Using the Ra headpiece, the shaman identifies the precise location of the Ark's actual burial site, which is known as the Well of Souls.


Waiting until night, Indy and Sallah sneak into the Nazi excavation site and digging to the location of the Well of Souls. They find a secret chamber that is full of dangerous snakes. Indy burns the snakes with flaming gasoline and clears the area with burning torches. They eventually find the Ark. But it is dawn now. The Nazis are surrounding the site and closed off the area. Indy and Sallah are left trapped inside the chamber. They find an opening on the wall and climb up to the surface.

Colonel Dietrich and the Nazis transport the Ark to Cairo. Indy chases the convoy and seizing the Ark. Indy takes the Ark by ship back to the America, but the Nazi submarines intercept the ship. The Ark is –once again – taken by the Nazi. Dr. Bellog opens the Ark, but the Ark contains nothing but sand, the remains of the stone tablets. Suddenly from inside the Ark appear the spirits of the Ark and attack the Nazis. The energy of the Ark surges forth killing the entire soldiers and destroying Dr. Bellog’s body into pieces. The unleashed energy mass now surges high into the sky.

Pearl Harbor (2001)

Pearl Harbor is a drama movie set during the time of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor. Rafe McCawley (Ben Affleck) and Danny Walker (Josh Hartnett) are childhood best friends in America. They grow up wanting to fly planes. They are now serving as pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps. They both find themselves in love with the same woman, a dedicated U.S. Navy nurse Evelyn Johnson (Kate Beckinsale).


During World War II, Capt. Rafe McCawley is selected to go fight with the British Royal Air Force in Europe while America is still not at war. Meanwhile, Capt. Danny Walker and Nurse Lt. Evelyn Johnson are transferred to Pearl Harbor military base.


In Europe Rafe is shot down in an air combat and presumed killed. Danny and Evelyn are getting married but, Rafe turns up alive. On December 7, 1941 Japanese bombing to Pearl Harbor has changed all of their lives forever.

Gladiator (2000)

180 AD. Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) is dying. Before die he wants to return his Roman Empire back to the Senate-based government. Although Emperor Marcus Aurelius has a son, Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), he decides to appoint temporary leadership to General Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe). Commodus is very jealous with this decision. After murder the Emperor, Commodus declares himself as the new Roman Emperor.


Commodus asks Maximus for his loyalty but Maximus refuses. Commodus orders the Roman Armies to murder Maximus' wife and son and the entire family. Maximus escapes and races home but he is late. He discovers his family's death bodies hanged upside down in the ruins of his villa. After burying his wife and son, Maximus collapses because of exhaustion.


Slave traders’ convoy found Maximus and sells him to Proximo (Oliver Reed), the owner of a gladiator school in North Africa. Desperate because of the death of his family, Maximus refuses to fight. But later as he trains and fights further, the excellent combat skills plus the experience from many battles when he was General in Roman Army make his popularity rising among the fellow gladiators and the audience.


At the Colosseum in Rome, Commodus held the gladiator tournament. Maximus and the companies of gladiator from Proximo's school are participating. The final battle is between Maximus against Tigris of Gaul (Sven-Ole Thorsen), the Rome's only undefeated gladiator, in an arena surrounded by chained tigers. Maximus defeats Tigris in an intense battle and win the tournament.


After the fight, Maximus meets his former servant Cicero (Tommy Flanagan), who reveals that Maximus's elite army remains loyal to him. They are camped outside Rome and waiting for his order. Maximus plans to reunite with his army and overthrow Commodus. Commodus however reveals the plot and sending a legion of Praetorian Guards to destroy Proximo's gladiator barracks. Hagen (Ralf Moeller) and Proximo are killed in the siege while Juba (Djimon Hounsou) and the survivors are imprisoned.


Commodus challenges Maximus to a one-on-one duel in the Colosseum in front of Roman citizen.
Commodus stabs Maximus on the chest. The blade is piercing deep into his heart and puncturing his lung. The wound is bleeding beneath Maximus’ gladiator armor. He lost much blood. Maximus collapses and dies.

Saving Private Ryan (1998)

Saving Private Ryan, based on a World War II drama directed by Steven Spielberg, is the story about a company of U.S. Rangers who is sent on a risky rescue mission.


After returning from the D-Day battlefield, a tough Rangers Captain John H. Miller (Tom Hanks) is sent back to the field on a new mission. The mission is finding the 82nd Airborne paratrooper Private James Francis Ryan (Matt Damon) and brings him home safely. Ryan's three brothers have been killed in battlefield during the World War II and the U.S. government wants him returned to his family alive.


In this rescue mission, Capt. Miller leads a company of 8 elite Rangers consist of Himself, Sergeant Mike Horvath (Tom Sizemore), Private Richard Reiben (Edward Burns), Private Daniel Jackson (Barry Pepper), Private Stanley Mellish (Adam Goldberg), Private Adrian Caparzo (Vin Diesel), T-4 Medic Irwin Wade (Giovanni Ribisi) and the 8th person is Corporal Timothy P. Upham (Jeremy Davies), an interpreter officer who has no combat experience.

The mission is far from easy because after jumping down from their transport plane, all of the paratroops of the 82nd Airborne are landing scattered far in a wide area. During their mission locating the precise Ryan’s landing site, Capt. Miller's men are killed one by one in various incidents. But when they finally locate the paratroops of the 82nd Airborne, Pvt. Ryan refuses to leave his unit.


His squad of paratroops is tasked to defend a vital bridge, and Pvt. Ryan insists on doing just that. Capt. Miller and the surviving Rangers agree to help the paratroops, and in a climactic battle scene, together they manage to hold off a German massive attack. Capt. Miller and all his men are sacrificing their life to save Pvt. Ryan.


All of the battle sequences, the plot and the characters in Saving Private Ryan are amazing and realistic.

It won 5 Oscars and is rated R for intense prolonged realistically graphic sequences of war violence, and for language.

Enemy of the State (1998)

Robert Clayton Dean (Will Smith) is a successful lawyer in Washington DC. He has a beautiful life with his wife (Regina King) and his son in a nice house located in Georgetown. One day accidentally he meets an old college friend in a store. Dean doesn’t know that his friend secretly drops a disc into his bag. After leaving the store, Dean sees that friend is killed in a traffic accident.


This morning Congressman Phillip Hammerson was killed by the National Security Agency agents in the park. The assassination was arranged by the NSA senior advisor Thomas Reynolds (Jon Voight). This murder was recorded on video by Dean’s friend. In no time, the NSA agents were breaking into his house to destroy this important evidence. So he tried to conceal the evidence by secretly slipped the disc into Dean’s bag before got killed by NSA agents.


Without realizing that the disc is containing important evidence of a congressman murder, Dean finds he becomes the target of the NSA. The NSA gets into his life. Dean's life begins to fall apart. He looses his job and his wife is gone. All of his accounts and assets are frozen. Dean wants to find out what is going on. The only man that can help him is Brill (Gene Hackman), a former government operative and an expert of surveillance system.

Ronin (1998)

Inside a warehouse in Paris, five men and a woman are seriously discussing a mission. They are Deirdre (Natascha McElhone), Sam (Robert De Niro), Vincent (Jean Reno), Spence (Sean Bean), Gregor (Stellan Skarsgård) and Larry (Skipp Sudduth). These five men are all former Special Forces soldiers or intelligence operatives from different country. The team is planning to attack a convoy of heavily-armed vehicles outside Nice and steal a suitcase.


Deirdre’s superior, Seamus (Jonathan Pryce), warns that the team must move quickly to get the case before the Russian gangsters do. With no time, the team departs for Nice, observe the location and prepare for the ambush. When they successfully obtain the case through a gun battle, suddenly Gregor betrays the team and steals the case. Gregor leaves a fake case with bomb inside that explodes and seriously injuring Larry.


Gregor sells the case to the Russians gangsters and to the Irish gangsters. Meanwhile, the team track Gregor through Sam's CIA friend and corner him. In the gun fight, Gregor shots Sam, kills Larry and escapes with Deirdre and Seamus. Sam seriously wounded from the fight. Vincent takes him to his friend Jean-Pierre (Michael Lonsdale) to remove the bullet and allowing Sam to recuperate.


Vincent and Sam discover that the case is identical to Russian ice-skater case, who will perform a show at the local arena tonight. Vincent and Sam track to the arena where Mikhi the leader of the Russian gangsters trade for the case with Gregor. Mikhi has positioned a sniper somewhere in the arena that will shoot if Gregor is betrayed. Mikhi kills Gregor and leaves with the case and the money. The sniper shoots the ice-skater and the crowd. Vincent and Sam follow the panicked crowd out of the arena in time to see Seamus kills Mikhi and steals the case. Seamus wounds Sam and Vincent before escape with Deirdre in the getaway car.

Contact (1997)

Contact, based on the novel of the same name by Carl Sagan, is the story of a scientist who discovers an intelligent signal broadcast from deep space.


Dr. Eleanor "Ellie" Arroway (Jodie Foster) is a brilliant young scientist in radio astronomy. She is an atheist. She has joined the Project of SETI, the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, for years. And now she is working in the Arecibo Radio Telescope facility under direct supervision of the Director David Drumlin (Tom Skerritt) himself. At Arecibo, Ellie meets Palmer Joss (Matthew McConaughey), an influential spiritual person.


Someday Drumlin forbids Ellie from using the radio telescope facility any longer. Alone, Ellie struggles for 18 months looking for funding to continue her research. Finally she gets her funding from a mysterious billionaire investor S.R. Hadden (John Hurt), a genius engineer in his day but now dying of rapidly-spreading cancer and living aboard a private jet. With funding from Hadden Industries, Ellie and her independent team moved their research to the VLA, Very Large Array of radio telescopes in New Mexico.

After 4 years of scanning the skies day and night, someday Ellie finds a strange intelligent signal with prime number pattern broadcasting from the star Vega, 26 light-years away from earth. At the same time all of the radio telescopes around the world confirm this phenomenon. The power of this extraterrestrial signal is strong and undeniable.

With no time Drumlin comes to VLA facility, taking credit for Ellie's work and pressuring her with national security issues. The U.S. government sends military forces commanded by Special Agent Michael Kitz (James Woods) to take over the Project and secure the entire facility. Witnessed by Drumlin and Kitz, Ellie and her fellow scientists try to decipher the prime number pulse pattern and discover a video recorded of Hitler speech in the 1936 Olympics opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, Hadden is able to crack codes that hidden in the Hitler’s video and found a detail construction blueprint for some kind of machine. Scientists and engineers from all countries in the world work together to build the most sophisticated machine ever constructed based on the blueprint. Senate hearings are held to select the pilot for the machine. Drumlin and Ellie are the candidates for the pilot. Unfortunately a suicide bombing by a terrorist (Jake Busey) destroys the machine and kills Drumlin.

Nobody knows that Hadden also build a similar machine in Japan. He offers the pilot seat to Ellie. Ellie embarks on her voyage through a time-space wormhole, traveling in no time to Vega, 26 light-years away from earth. The trip is amazing. The sights during her journey are beautiful. She meets the alien who sent the prime number signal to earth. And the most unforgettable moment is when she meets her departed father.

Face/Off (1997)

FBI Special Agent Sean Archer (John Travolta) has hunted a psychotic terrorist and criminal mastermind named Castor Troy (Nicolas Cage) for the last eight years, and is consumed by revenge because Archer believes that his lovely son, Michael, was killed in a sadistic terrorist act managed by Castor Troy, six years ago.


One day, Archer has finally cornered Troy and their fight has knocked out Troy. Before fainted Troy threatens Archer that he has planted a biological bomb placed somewhere in Los Angeles that will destroy the entire city of Los Angeles and all of its inhabitants.
The FBI discover that Troy was telling the truth. All they have to do now is to find out where it is. Unfortunately the only person who knows its location is Castor's brother Pollux Troy (Alessandro Nivola), but he refuses to talk about it. The only person that Pollux will talk to is his brother Castor.

The FBI have a plan to get the information from Pollux. They sent Archer to undergo a new radical-method surgery that can cut off people's faces and place a person's face onto another person. Archer will exchange his face with Castor’s face and assume Castor’s identity and then ask Pollux about the bomb. The surgery is success so Archer goes to the prison and successfully gets the information about the bomb from Pollux.


However, Castor Troy somehow regains his consciousness and forces the doctor who operated on Archer to place Archer's face on him. So now Castor is wearing Archer’s face and assumes Archer's identity. He wants revenge on Archer for taking his face. Castor then goes to the prison as Archer and telling him that he has destroyed all documentations of the surgery and eliminated everyone who knew about the faces exchange. He takes his brother out and leaves Archer in prison.


Now, Castor Troy turns Archer's life upside down by assuming his identity. Not only is Troy ruining Archer's mission, but his personal life as well. The real Sean Archer is now forced to trust into a nightmare he never imagines.

Con Air (1997)

Cameron Poe (Nicolas Cage), a highly decorated U.S. Army Ranger, was going to go home in Alabama, when he got into a fight with three drunken bar’s customers, while trying to defend his pregnant wife, Tricia (Monica Potter). Cameron unknowingly killed one of the drunks and was sent to a federal penitentiary for involuntary manslaughter for ten years. During that time his daughter was born, but he waited patiently in his cell until his release date. He sent letters to his wife and daughter regularly. Seven years later, Cameron became eligible for parole and can now go home to his wife and daughter, Casey. He is scheduled to be flown back to Alabama on the same day as his daughter Casey's seventh birthday.


His transport home is the "Jailbird", a C-123 airplane, which also transporting a band of society's vicious convicts to Feltham Penitentiary, the toughest maximum-security prison in Louisiana. Along with Poe is fellow prisoner Mike "Baby-O" O'Dell and several other dangerous criminals in the country, including Cyrus "The Virus" Grissom (John Malkovich), Nathan "Diamond Dog" Jones (Ving Rhames), William "Billy Bedlam" Bedford (Nick Chinlund), Garland "The Marietta Mangler" Greene (Steve Buscemi), Joe "Pinball" Parker (Dave Chappelle), Johnny "Johnny-23" Baca (Danny Trejo), Ramon "Sally-Can't Dance" Martinez (Renoly Santiago) and the legendary criminal insane "Swamp Thing" (M.C. Gainey). The prisoners transfer is overseen by U.S. Marshall Vince Larkin (John Cusack).


At first, everything looks smooth but shortly after the flight takes off, a fight breaks out and two of the most dangerous convicts, "Diamond Dog" Jones and Cyrus "The Virus", break out from their restraints, quickly subdue the guards and take control of the plane. Cyrus "The Virus" organizes the other prisoners to prepare for a scheduled landing in Carson City in order to transfer some of the prisoners. He insures the prisoners transfer goes smoothly and the plane leaves Carson City without incident.


Cyrus next plan is re-routes the plane to the abandoned Lerner Airfield to catch another plane which will take them to a foreign country. The escape plan was set up by drug lord Francisco Cindino. He promised that once the prisoners land at Lerner Airfield, another plane will be waiting for them. And Cindino will help them gain asylum in a "non-extradition country".

The Rock (1996)

USMC General Francis Xavier Hummel (Ed Harris) has spent most of his career carrying out covert military operations. Over the years, nearly a hundred of his men have been killed or left behind, and they have not received any recognition. He has been protesting the government, for years, to pay benefits to families of war veterans who died during covert military operations.

The death of his wife Barbara Hummel on March 9, 1995 drove him over the edge. General Hummel and his loyal marines seized a stockpile of U.S. Military weapons and stole 15 rockets equipped with the deadly V.X. nerve gas. An ultimate biological weapon, that one single rocket only is enough to take out 70 thousand people.

General Hummel and the Marines then go on a tour of Alcatraz, the prison in San Francisco that famous for the fact that no prisoner had ever successfully escaped. He takes over Alcatraz, along with 81 civilian tourists as hostages. His reason for doing this is simple: he has seen Marines under his command get killed in combat without a military burial or benefits to their families.

General Hummel demands the government to give the fallen Marines recognition and pays 100 million dollars as restitution to families of Marines who died in covert operations. Otherwise, he is threatening to launch 15 rockets carrying the deadly V.X. nerve gas into the San Francisco Bay area.

An elite Navy SEAL team is assembled to penetrate the terrorists' defenses on Alcatraz and neutralize the threat before time runs out. The FBI send their top Bio-chemical warfare expert, Dr. Stanley Goodspeed (Nicolas Cage), to support the SEAL. Stanley is needed because he knows how to disarm the V.X. bombs, but Stanley needs someone who knows Alcatraz well enough to get them inside.

The best person they could find is former British intelligence agent, John Patrick Mason (Sean Connery), who has been in every prison in the U.S. for the past 30 years without a trial because he was accused of stealing the private files of J. Edgar Hoover. John became the only inmate ever broke out from Alcatraz in 1962. Despite his extreme hatred of the FBI, John agrees to help.

When they go in, General Hummel's Marines ambush the entire SEAL team, leaving Stanley and John to work on their own to rescue the hostages and neutralize the bombs. The problem is that Goodspeed is not really a field agent and Mason realize that when he returns, he will be sent back to prison for a long time, and Mason doesn't want to back to prison again.

Armageddon (1998)

NASA discovered that a giant asteroid roughly the size of Texas, is on a collision course with Earth. The asteroid will hit the Earth in 18 days with the force of 10,000 nuclear weapons. A trillion tons of dirt and rock will hurtle into the atmosphere, creating a suffocating blanket of dust that the sun is powerless to penetrate for a thousand years. It is like the one that killed off the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.


NASA and the U.S. military decide to use a nuclear warhead to blow the asteroid from the inside. They recruit the world's best deep core drilling team to land on the surface of the asteroid. Their mission is to drill 800 feet into the center of the asteroid, place a nuclear bomb, then take off and remotely detonate the nuclear warhead. The explosion of the nuke will break the asteroid in two, and the two pieces will pass earth on both sides.


For the drill team, NASA select Harry S. Stamper (Bruce Willis) and his group of misfit drillers and geologists crew that includes tough guy-softie Bear (Michael Clarke Duncan), brilliant smart-ass Rockhound (Steve Buschemi), A.J. Frost (Ben Affleck) the fiancée of his independent daughter Grace Stamper (Liv Tyler), and Oscar Choi (Owen Wilson). Billy Bob Thornton stars as NASA Director Dan Truman. Jason Isaacs, Will Patton, William Fichtner, Eddie Griffin and Mark Curry co-star. It's a race against time to get the drillers trained, land them on the asteroid and get the hole drilled before the earth is destroyed in 18 days.

Independence Day (1996)

On July 2nd, all communications systems in the world are disturbed by a strange interference. The military discovers that a mysterious objects are on a collision course with Earth. At first thought to be meteors, they are later revealed to be gigantic alien spacecrafts. Meanwhile, a giant alien mothership orbits around Earth and deploys hundreds of 15 miles width, saucer-shaped spacecraft.

As all of the alien spacecrafts take positions over some of Earth's major cities, David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum), an MIT-graduate scientist in New York City, discovers hidden satellite transmissions which he believes to be a timer counting down to a coordinated massive attack by the alien troops against the human race. With the help of his ex-wife Constance Spano (Margaret Colin), a White House employee, David and his father Julius Levinson (Judd Hirsch) gain entrance into the Oval Office to warn President Thomas J. Whitmore (Bill Pullman) of the impending attack.

On July 3rd, the United States conducts a coordinated counterattack. Their weapons fail to penetrate the aliens craft's force field, and it responds by releasing hundreds of alien fighter, and a one-sided dogfight ensues. Captain Steven Hiller (Will Smith), a USAF pilot, manages to survive the attack by luring a single alien fighter to the Grand Canyon, ejects just before running out of fuel, and crash-lands in the desert. Hiller is picked up by a convoy of survivors, and takes him to nearby Area 51, a top secret government facility, commanded by Major Mitchell (Adam Baldwin).

On July 4th, Levinson and Hiller devise a plan to implant a computer virus into the alien mothership and plant a nuclear bomb on board. With satellite communications knocked out, the US military use Morse code to coordinate a massive attack with the remaining forces around the world. With not enough military pilots to man all available aircraft, the battle requires several volunteers, including President Whitmore, to fight back against the enslaving aliens.
Now the world's only hope lies with a determined band of survivors, uniting for one last strike against the invaders - before it's the end of mankind. July 4th becomes the day humanity will fight for its freedom. July 4th is their Independence Day.
